Bulgur wheat balls

Bulgur wheat - packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber. This is a quick savory snack that goes well with a yogurt dip.



Ingredients


For the bulgur wheat balls

  • 1 cup bulgur wheat

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped

  • 2 generous tsp turmeric

  • 2 generous tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste


For the yogurt dip

  • 1/4 cup yogurt

  • 1/8 red onion, finely diced

  • A handful of cilantro, chopped

  • 1/4 tsp cumin

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • Dash of cayenne pepper

  • Salt and pepper taste


Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180c/350 f.

  2. Pour bulgur wheat mixture into 8 cupcake tins

  3. Bake for 10 minutes at 180c/350f, then broil for 3 minutes.

  4. While its baking, mix together all the ingredients for the yogurt dip.

  5. Serve with the yogurt dip, and enjoy!


-- Notes --

  • You can also serve this with a tamarind sauce.

  • If you'd prefer something a little lighter, skip out the garam masala.

  • You can also fry the bulgur wheat balls, with 4 tbsp of olive oil, but you should add an extra egg and some bread crumbs so help the ball stick together.
