Brigadieros - a favorite childhood sweet. This is a traditionally Brazilian dessert that is popular across Latin America. Like many of our desserts, its made with sweet condensed milk. These are quick to make and great with coffee!
Ingredients
For chocolate brigadieros
2 tbsp butter
14 oz can sweet condensed milk
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate sprinkles or shredded coconut to coat
For coconut brigadieros
1 tbsp butter
14 oz can sweet condensed milk
½ cup coconut milk
1 tsp coconut extract
Shredded coconut to coat
Directions
For the chocolate bridgadieros
In medium sized skillet, melt butter and sweet condensed milk over medium-low heat to melt.
Add the cocoa powder and vanilla extract and stir continuously for 10-15 minutes, until the mixture begins to pull away from the side of the skillet and you can see the bottom of the skillet as you stir the spatula.
The mixture should be very thick! When you spread the mixture, you want it to take a few seconds to go back to shape. If it’s not thickening, continue to stir over low heat and avoid letting the mixture over-heat/burn.
Grease a plate and pour the mixture onto a plate and cool in the fridge for an hour. Once its set, butter your hands (it’s very sticky) to pinch off some of the mixture. Roll it in your hands until a ball forms and then coat in chocolate sprinkles or shredded coconut.
For the coconut brigadieros
