Basil and ground turkey together!? I didn't think of this genius combination but liked it so much I added my own modifications and wanted to include it in my recipe book!
Ingredients
Sauce
1 1/2 tsp sweet and chili (optional)
1 tbsp fish sauce
4 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 fresh ginger, peeled and minced
1 tsp hot pepper sauce (or Sriracha)
2 tbsp fresh-squeezed lime juice
Stir fry
1 onion, cut in slivers
1 red bell pepper, cut into strips
1 tbsp olive oil
3 large garlic cloves, minced
1 cup basil
1 1/2 lbs/600g ground turkey
Directions
Whisk together the lime juice, hot pepper sauce, sweet and chili, fish sauce, sesame oil, and ginger to make the stir-fry sauce
Cut onions into slivers, cut bell peppers into strips, peel and mince garlic cloves
Heat work or large pan over high heat for 1 minute
Add oil, heat for about 45 seconds, then add garlic cloves
Cook garlic until its fragrant, when you smell the garlic (about 1 minute), remove the garlic and throw away
Add the onion slicers, bell pepper strips to the pain and fry for 4-5 minutes until they start to soften, then remove, set aside
Add more olive oil to the pan if needed, add the ground turkey and cook for 5 minutes, breaking it apart
Add the vegetables back to the pan, stirring to combine with the turkey, and cook for another minute
Add chopped basil and cook for another minute, until basil wilts
Then add the stir fry sauce and stir to distribute in the mix
Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce is absorbed and the sauce has started to thicken
Serve with jasmine rice or lettuce wraps
